Started in 1996 and started building the barns in 1995.

600 Sow facility but can run up to 630 (usually run between 610 to 615 sows)

100 % AI pig facility. (They maintain 3 boars on the property just for checking for heat in sows)

Cargill producer and Cargill provides the licenses needed to operate

Only license is a water permit that allows the use of well water to water agriculture animals.

Irrigation plan is set up at the NSCS to be able to use lagoon water to irrigate on property.

This is a very well maintained, organized and labor reduction swine facility. Steps have been implemented to reduce the amount of work and made to be maintained very easy. About 45 work hours go into running the facility by two people.

Two -barn facility! Farrowing Barn and Breeding and Gestation (B&G) barn. Barns are built 75 feet apart.

Breeding and Gestation barn

a. Each crate has crush bars installed which makes the sow lay down slower to help eliminate crushing of piglets.

5. Automatic Feed Tube Filler
a. Tubes automatically fill up with feed and sows are hand fed.
b. Tubes can be easily moved to feed bins in front of sow and just move bottom to empty feed into feeder.
c. Allows close inspection of sows daily
6. Temperature control is by:
a. Cool cells (Cool pad or water fans)
b. 16 exhaust fans (4 fans per room)
Only 2 fans per room run continually the other two will turn on when the temperature control has been exceeded
c. Each room has L.B. White 75000 BTU heater
7. Automatic curtains
a. Each room has set of curtains but usually shut because of the cool cells
b. Need replacing but are still in good condition
c. Curtains will be provided.
8. Heat lamps (Louver heat lamps)
a. Each row of crates has heat lamps that can be lowered or raised at same time.

a. Sprinkler system used before power washing (Soaks and Pre-wash floor for easier washing)
